David Sudjashvili: Georgia intensifies patrolling its border with South Ossetia

Patrolling on the administrative border between Georgia and South Ossetia will be intensified from 1-2 to 3-4 times a day. This was announced by David Sudjashvili, Chief of the Analytical Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

One of the reasons for the decision to intensify patrolling was the detention of Georgian citizens by Russian border guards on November 25. The second reason for intensification of patrolling was fixing of signs "South Ossetia" on arable lands, located in the border area. This was explained to the "Caucasian Knot" by David Sudjashvili.

"Signs with inscription 'Republic of South Ossetia' were fixed on arable lands adjacent to villages of Meshveti, Gogeti, Tseronisi, and Knolevi. And at present, peasants, who worked there, cannot harvest the crops, since they are afraid of being arrested. I would like to note that recently (the South Ossetian party) began cultivating the lands that had never been cultivated earlier... For example, during patrolling, we saw a tractor driver, who told us that he received instructions from Tskhinvali to go and cultivate this particular land plot not far from the village of Meshveti," David Sudjashvili has stated.
