Number of evacuees from emergency zone in KBR reaches 525

By the evening, rescuers evacuated 525 people out of the mudflow descent zone in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). Employees of the Don Rescue Centre have arrived in the emergency zone, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of September 1, a mudflow descended from a slope of the Adyl-Su Gorge in the vicinity of the village of Elbrus. 7750 people found themselves on the territory cordoned off by the mudflow.

Now, the emergency zone is operated on by 628 employees and 112 units of equipment, including four aircrafts, says the website of the KBR’s MfE.

According to the MfE, specialists of the above Centre for Special-Risk Rescue Operations named "Leader" have triggered four rock blasts.

Workers of the road service are restoring, in the round-the-clock mode, the federal highway Prohladny-Baksan-Elbrus, partially destroyed after the descent of a mudflow, the TASS reports with reference to its source from the “Kavkaz” Department of Federal Highways.

"The work will not stop at night; they will work around the clock to promptly restore the highway. The MfE will provide illumination at night," said the source.
