Ingushetia: rally participant sentenced to eight months in prison
Magomed-Bashir Ozdoev, a participant in a rally in Magas, has been sentenced to eight months in prison. With account of the time he spent at the SIZO (pre-trial prison) and the term of his house arrest, he should be back at large in 10 days.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ozdoev was detained on November 26, 2020, in connection with a rally held in Magas, in the capital of Ingushetia. He was found guilty of using non-life-threatening violence against state officials, said Kazim Atabiev, an advocate.
Ozdoev's father said that he was waiting for his eldest son to return home.
"Magomed-Bashir is my main aid in household matters and in our family business – we are engaged in animal husbandry," said Mustafa, the father.
"He had never been interested in politics, but the border issue left few people indifferent in those days. And Magomed-Bashir with the guys like him took part in the rallies," the father has added.
