Residents of Makhachkala demand stable electricity supply

Daily power outages have forced residents of Yaragsky Street in Makhachkala to block the street, the protesters have claimed.

In the evening on August 17, Yaragsky Street was blocked by local residents who demanded that electricity supply be restored. The action lasted for about 30 minutes, eyewitnesses told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to their version, about 50 people took part in the action. After a police patrol car arrived at the venue, the protesters dispersed.

In the evening on August 17, a video of the action was posted on the "Mandate" Telegram channel. In the evening, at the pedestrian crossing, a number of people lined up including women and children, the video shows.

Magomed, a resident of Yaragsky Street, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that regular blackouts in the micro-district began in early summer. "It's hot, but we can't turn on the air conditioner, and food gets spoiled in the refrigerator. In the evening, children can't do their homework," the Makhachkala resident has stated.

According to Madina, another local resident, "townspeople decided to block the road, as this is the only way to attract attention." "Dispatching services would not answer our calls, or they say – we'll find out, wait. I'm tired of all this," she has noted.
