Colleagues of journalist Gadjiev hold two pickets in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), and journalist Idris Yusupov held pickets. They demanded to stop the criminal prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

Colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of the weekly newspaper "Chernovik", consider his criminal case as political persecution and hold protest actions in support of him. For example, on December 5, Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Chernovik”, held a solo picket.

In addition to Magomed Magomedov, Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the “Chernovik”, and Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the “Novoye Delo” (New Clause) regularly take part in solo pickets in Makhachkala.

On Monday, the first picket was held by Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the “Chernovik”. He demanded to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev and stop his criminal prosecution. The second picket was held by journalist Idris Yusupov. In his hands, the picketer was holding a banner reading “Freedom to Journalism”.

According to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent, the picket demanding the release of Abdulmumin Gadjiev attracted more attention from passers-by and drivers, although the protest action held by Idris Yusupov also aroused their interest.

According to Magdi Kamalov, the reaction of passers-by was less active than earlier, possibly due to the bad weather.
