Makhachkala: anti-mobilization protester released in courtroom
The court has sentenced Kemran Agabekov, a protester against mobilization, to a fine of 150,000 roubles for assaulting a policeman. Taking into account the fact that the Makhachkala resident was under arrest during the investigation and trial, the fine amount was reduced to 50,000 roubles.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 25 and 26, 2022, large-scale actions against mobilization were held in Makhachkala, which ended in mass detentions. Human rights defenders reported dozens of criminal cases initiated against protesters. At least 20 criminal cases have been opened against demonstrators for the use of violence against policemen, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported in January.
The Sovietsky District Court of Makhachkala has fined Kemran Agabekov, 22, an anti-mobilization protester, the "OVD-Info" human rights project has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the court sentenced Gafar Isaev, a participant in a rally against mobilization in Makhachkala, to two years' of conditional imprisonment, finding him guilty of using violence against a law enforcer.
