Dagestani activist Ulker Gashimova rejects state-appointed advocate
Ulker Gashimova, a resident of Derbent, who was arrested at the airport while trying to leave Russia, has become a figurant of a criminal case under a terrorist article. The girl declared her distrust of the state-appointed advocate and decided to defend herself.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5, it became known that law enforcers had detained Ulker Gashimova, 23, an activist from Dagestan, at a Moscow airport while she was trying to fly out of Russia. Her bridegroom said that the girl planned to apply for political asylum in the Netherlands. After two arrests in the vicinity of Moscow, Gashimova was sent to Dagestan.
Ulker Gashimova is charged with a "terrorist" article because of her posts in social networks, the "Kavkaz.Realii"** project reports, citing its source. There is very little information about Gashimova's case, since she has no advocate: the family did not hire one for Ulker, while she has refused to cooperate with the state-appointed advocate.
Shamil Khadulaev, a member of the Public Oversight Commission (POC), wrote in his Telegram channel that Gashimova had no complaints about the custody conditions at the SIZO (pre-trial prison).
Anton Kolomitsyn, Gashimova's bridegroom, has doubted that the detainees had no complaints. According to his story, he was blocked in the Khadulaev's channel.
*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
