In Kaspiysk, medical school administration denies ban on hijabs
The Kaspiysk Medical School has imposed uniform regulations on clothing for its students, as well as recommendations for their appearance, but those regulations contain no ban on wearing hijabs, explains the medical school administration.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in November, lawyer Arsen Magomedov reported that the Kaspiysk Prosecutor’s Office refused to consider a claim of discrimination because of wearing a hijab at the local medical school.
“The school has imposed a uniform to comply with sanitary and hygienic standards ... These are uniform requirements for all students, regardless of whether they wear hijabs or not,” noted a school employee.
A mother of one of the students says that although her daughter does not wear a hijab, there is no ban on wearing Muslim clothing at the medical school.
In September, the “IslamDag” portal reported that after the information had been disseminated on the social media about the ban on wearing hijabs, Murad Ismailov, the chair of the Council of Imams of Kaspiysk, visited top managers of the Kaspiysk Medical School.
Let us remind you that in October, girls wearing hijabs were not allowed into schools in several villages of Kabardino-Balkaria. The republic’s Muftiate announced that it had convinced officials not to prevent schoolgirls from wearing hijabs, and on October 4, girls wearing hijabs were allowed to attend classes in the village of Zalukokoazhe.
