Picket in support of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev evokes response from Makhachkala residents

Passers-by supported a solo picket in support of Dagestani journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev, sentenced in a terrorism case, and asked about his fate, noted Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft).

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev consider his criminal case to be political persecution and regularly hold pickets in his support. On January 8, like a week earlier, a solo picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev was held by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Chernovik”.

The police responded to the solo picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, held by Magomed Magomedov, “a little more actively than usually.” “The reaction of passers-by was positive, and they wished speedy release for Abdulmumin Gadjiev,” Magomed Magomedov added.

He noted that some passers-by did not know about the persecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, and people asked questions about the journalist himself and his criminal case.

Relatives of Abdulmumin Gadjiev also attended the place of the picket. Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s mother confirmed that the reaction from passers-by was active.
