In December 2023, three persons were wounded in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In December 2023, during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, three people were wounded; there were no reports about any perished persons. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On December 25, 2023, in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, after a shootout, policemen detained two people. Earlier, the police received a report that in Karabulak, a Lada Granta car was shelled from a Mercedes-Benz car; the driver of the former one was wounded. A policeman tried to stop the Mercedes, but the driver continued moving. The policeman fired several shots at the car, which soon collided with another car and came to a stop.

"The driver and the wounded passenger tried to escape, but were detained. A man who was walking near the post at the time of the incident was also wounded in his leg," the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported. A traumatic pistol converted into a combat one, two knives and ammunition were found in the Mercedes.

The presented statistics cannot reflect the number of victims with 100% accuracy. Not all the data makes it into news reports. It is not always possible to verify how true the statements of law enforcement bodies are; and new data about the events of the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of statistics on the "Caucasian Knot".

Earlier, in November 2023, one person perished in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus.

  • Analysts treat Chechen authorities' demands for apologies as selective

Vakhid Ilyasov's apologies for the incident on a Mariupol beach were caused by the pressure of Chechen authorities, while those from Ramzan Kadyrov's retinue rarely apologize for much more serious offences, analysts have pointed out, noting that not all incidents involving natives of Chechnya committed at resorts attract attention of republic's authorities.
