In Volgograd, blogger Agafonova sentenced to forced labour

A court in Volgograd has sentenced Alyona Agafonova, a blogger, to 10 months of forced labour, treating her video filmed near the "The Motherland Is Calling!" monument as desecrating the symbol of military glory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Agafonova had admitted her guilt and asked to consider her case under a special procedure.

In the summer of 2023, Agafonova filmed a video on Mamayev Kurgan. In the video, the girl pretends to touch the breast of the sculpture "The Motherland Is Calling!" with her finger and laughs, and then falls on the grass at the foot of the monument. Agafonova later apologized.

"She has been sentenced to forced labour for a period of 10 months with the deduction of 10% of her earnings to the state income. Besides, Alyona was prohibited from posting public information in social networks for two years," says the Telegram channel of the courts' press service of the Volgograd Region.

Let us remind you that Mamayev Kurgan keeps the remains of 34,505 defenders of Stalingrad. There are also 35 granite tombstones of Heroes of the Soviet Union who took part in the defence of the city.
