Forensic expert reports to court unnoticed wound on body of murdered 19-year-old man

A criminal case on the murder of Magomed-Ali Sultanov, a 19-year-old resident of Kayakent, should be sent for additional investigation after a forensic expert admitted that an earlier forensic report did not describe all the wounds on the young man’s body. The above has been reported by a family’s lawyer.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the forensic expert based her conclusions about the nature of the wounds inflicted on Magomed-Ali Sultanov on the information from her colleague who left Dagestan. On April 17, it became known that a court agreed to the bringing of an expert from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which, according to the lawyer of Magomed-Ali Sultanov’s parents, gave hope for a fair trial.

The criminal case on Magomed-Ali Sultanov’s murder involves only one defendant. The lawyer of the Magomed-Ali Sultanov’s family requests the court to involve in the case and bring to justice two other participants of the fight and to reclassify the charge as murder by prior conspiracy. The forensic expert confirmed that the victim’s body bore traces of wounds from two murder weapons.

“While the public prosecutor asked questions to the forensic expert, he could not remember how many wounds bore the victim’s body, but when I showed him photographs, he admitted that there were nine wounds,” said lawyer Ilyas Saidov.

The lawyer has noted that the ninth wound was not examined. Furthermore, skin fragments from eight wounds recorded by the forensic expert were not properly registered and cannot serve as admissible evidence in the criminal case.

“Everyone is shocked by that fact, even a defendant’s advocate. We will request the court to send the case for further investigation, even though there is a risk of an acquittal for the defendant,” lawyer Ilyas Saidov concluded.
