Court fines Deputy Mufti of Ingushetia for participating in rally

In Magas, a court imposed a fine of 20,000 roubles on Musa Meiriev, the deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Ingushetia, for participating in an unsanctioned action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 3, after searches and detentions of Ingush activists, protest leaders Akhmed Barakhoev and Musa Malsagov were arrested for 10 days.

On March 26, without a sanction from the authorities, residents of Ingushetia continued a rally in Magas, and that led to clashes with law enforcers. According to investigators, ten law enforcers were injured. The leader of Ingushetia accused the protest leaders of irresponsibility.

It should be noted that on December 1, 2018, the Congress of Muslims of Ingushetia, organized by the Ingush SAM, supported the opposition's demand to cancel the border agreement with Chechnya. On December 26, 2018, the Coordinating Centre for Muslims of Northern Caucasus accused activists of intimidating Ingush MPs. The Mufti of Ingushetia invited members of the Coordinating Centre to come to Ingushetia and get personally acquainted with his activities. After that, his membership in the organization was suspended.
