Court appoints compensation to family in Volgograd Region for missile debris falling on their house

A court in the Volgograd Region has ordered officials to pay 4.7 million roubles to the Brunts family, whose home and property were damaged by falling missile debris.

On December 31, 2022, two private houses in the village of Linyovo were damaged by falling metal debris; no one was hurt, the head of Zhirnovsky District has reported.

As reported by the "V1.ru" outlet, a residential building, a garage, and a Toyota RAV4 were damaged. The family went to court demanding compensation for moral harm and material damage. The court ordered the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) to pay compensation to the family, but the MoD had challenged this decision. The regional court ruled to compensate the family for the material damage, but changed the legal entity responsible for the payment from the MoD to the administration of the Zhirinovsky District.

Two children and the husband were at home at the time. The crash of the air vessel resulted in an explosion.

"After the incident, the family developed an uncontrollable fear of being at home and a feeling of hopelessness; it's impossible to describe all the family's emotional sufferings," the court's message says.

According to the investigation materials, the missile was launched from a military aircraft.
